Paul Pavao Statement of Faith
Based on my study of Scripture, my experience in the local churches of which I have been a part, and my reading of the writings of the local churches, here is my personal statement of faith.
I have included my church's beliefs on the same issues. I feel free to expand on my church's teachings, but I do not feel free to change or reject the church's foundational beliefs.
Statement of Faith
I believe that there is one God who created the heavens and the earth.
I believe: The one God begat a Son, his Word/Reason (Gr. Logos) before the beginning and before all creation. God created all things through his Logos.
Scripture: John 1:1-3, 18; Proverbs 8:22-31; Psalm 110:3 (LXX).
My church believes: God is a Trinity
I believe: The Gospel is the Gospel of the Kingdom. The Kingdom of God has drawn near. The resurrection proves that Jesus is the King of that eternal Kingdom. Repent and believe in the King.
Scripture: Psalm 2; Mark 1:14-15; Luke 14:26-33; John 20:31; Acts 2:32-39; Romans 1:1-5.
Note: The atonement is not the Gospel. It is possible to believe that Jesus died for your sins and be neither born again nor saved.
My church believes: The Gospel is a life for a Life. You must give up your life, dying to yourself, your desires, and your dreams, and in return God will give you his Life.
I believe: Jesus was born of a virgin and lived a life that undid everything Adam did. Adam disobeyed through a tree and made his descendants sinners. Jesus obeyed through a tree (the cross) and his seed (the Word of the Gospel) frees his followers from sin.
Scripture: Psalm 2; Mark 1:14-15; John 20:31; Acts 2:32-39; Romans 1:1-5; 5:12-21.
My church believes: Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and was crucified under Pontius Pilate because of our sins.
